“the measure of any society is how it treats it’s women and girls.” #MichelleObama

When Michelle Obama said, “the measure of any society is how it treats it’s women and girls” I held my breath. That is it in a nutshell, isn’t it?

We have seen through history how women have been denigrated, but we have also seen societies change.

Rena, #1716 in Auschwitz, survived over 3 years.

Rena, #1716 in Auschwitz, survived over 3 years.

We stand on the shoulders of the women before us. Women who have survived repression, shame, violence, genocide, imprisonment, and more, yet were able to come through those hardships without bitterness, able to love and care for the world, their children, their communities and each other.

I am moved by the power of Michelle Obama’s message, which addresses every society and culture in our world, and challenges every individual to be measured in the positive.

Never forget. The First Jewish Transport to Auschwitz was all women and their sale into slavery by their government foretold the negative measure of Nazi “society” and worse to come. #NeverAgain #Holocaust #Pantsuitnation
